We strive to overcome the expectations that attempt to define us. We believe in taking accountability for our happiness and carving our own paths toward self-sustainability. I have been crocheting and knitting for 15 years, but started to Macrame in July of 2015 and feel like I have been doing it forever. 2. I have ran the Los Angeles Marathon 3 times, one in a complete downpour. 3. I was born in Texas, but raised in California. 4. Health and Wellness are very important to me. 5. I was a buyer for the fashion industry for 15 years. 6. I am the mother of two girls. 7. I am a pusher, but it is always out of love and encouragement. 8. I fell in love with a long time (boy) friend and am so glad we got married. 9. I am a huge Oprah fan, but who isn't? 10. As part of our weekly #wearethemakers series, we’re drawing this morning's spotlight on the maker behind @maehandmade. Ten facts about Richelle: 1. I live in the same small town where I was born and raised, in MB Canada. 2. Since I've been little, I've always had this wild fascination and love for Orcas. 3. I'm an introvert, and my best days are spent cooped up in my beautiful studio with my dog, coffee and art. 4. In 2011, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and since then have become a mental health advocate to bring awareness and light to a very confusing issue. 5. Despite my diagnosis, I have never been healthier in my life!! 6. I love to watch TV while I work in the studio (Gilmore Girls, The Good Wife, Suits, Sherlock and Mad Men are amoung my top faves). 7. My husband and I are ridiculously obsessed with our shihtzu-Pekingese dog, Ruby. Like, the lamest of lamest dog owners. 8. My mom and dad are also both makers! Dad does just about ANYTHING but specializes in wood work, bird houses, and carvings. Mom used to teach painting classes and is now a quilter. 9. My husband is a photographer. Being married to a fellow artist is such a gift. 10.
